ELEVATE YOUR GAME!

Old Grappler Summit is an exclusive three day gathering for dedicated over-40 Jiu Jitsu practitioners of all levels (men and women) that want to increase their effectiveness and longevity on the mat.

This event is about more than just training, it's an opportunity to make amazing new friends that not only share your love of Jiu Jitsu, but understand the challenges of training over the age of 40. It's also an opportunity to enjoy a fun getaway weekend in sunny San Diego California.

Training will take place at the world-famous Clark Gracie Jiu Jitsu academy. How cool is that?!

Space is limited so please don't wait and miss out on participating in Old Grappler Summit!

THE AGENDA

Our agenda is simple: To quantifiably improve your Jiu Jitsu and have fun! During our 3 days/7 hours of training you will gain practical offensive and defensive strategies, techniques, and solutions for being more successful and effective against the younger athletes you face on the mat. Plus, you'll get some personalized troubleshooting for specific problems you might be facing. We also throw a fun party!

WHERE TO STAY IN SAN DIEGO

San Diego offers a wide variety of accommodations depending on your budget. In general, we recommend that you stay in any of the communities on the north side of the San Diego bay in order to be close to the training facility.

Here are some options:

Old Town is our top recommendation. It's a historic destination that offers many hotels, shopping, restaurants, and bars, all within easy walking distance. It’s also less than a mile from our training facility.

A great choice in Old Town is the Best Western Plus Hacienda because It's centrally located in Old Town. The Hilton Garden Inn is also a good choice, although it's not quite as close to the action in Old Town.

Beach Communities. If you prefer to stay near the ocean or on the beach, we recommend Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, or any of the beach communities on the north side of the San Diego bay.

Shelter Island/Harbor Island is a more upscale choice that offers some water-front hotels and good food options.

Mission Valley West. If you’re looking for something more budget-minded, we recommend you look at the many hotels in Mission Valley near Fashion Valley Mall.

TESTIMONIALS

Jason Galetti

"Exceeded expectations, came out with not only a few new moves but better strategy in terms of seeking attachments, islands of solitude, and flow rolling = better muscle memory. Also good to see hear others journey as older folks and after meeting the oldest gentlemen there I have zero excuses any more."

William Cheshire

"Rick put on an amazing seminar targeted at the challenges we older grapplers face. I learned an lot and met a bunch of really nice people. I would definitely attend another."

Chris Matlack

"The instruction was excellent. The social event was top notch. The opportunity to meet like minded practitioners and work together on the same level was invaluable."

Mitch Waldstein

"No one does it like Rick! He articulates concepts in a way that really opens your mind to deeper perspectives. It was a treat to spend time with him and learn a few of his “efficiency” tricks."

Frank Bredimus

"I throughly enjoyed attending this seminar. A great training facility and a great town. Rick is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable and patient at explaining Jiu Jitsu."

Les Lent

"This event showed me how to “level up” my game by slowing down stronger and faster players. World class event!"

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Hi, I'm Rick Ellis.

I'm a blackbelt under legendary Professor Roy Dean. I run The Art of Skill channel on YouTube.

I'm living proof that you can start Jiu Jitsu relatively late in life and go on to become a blackbelt.

When I was new at BJJ my strategy was to match my training partner's speed, power, and strength. In fact, if they went hard, I tried to go even harder. But as you get older, that's a terrible strategy, one that will get you injured. Trust me, I know that first hand.

Instead, you need technical mastery and efficiency. You need perfect defense, great timing, and a versatile offensive game. I've spent years developing and teaching that style of Jiu Jitsu.

And I can help you too!
